This is the short form of cannabidiol. It is one of the commonly occurring plant-based chemicals in the cannabis plant. It can interact with the endocannabinoid receptor to produce several effects ranging from antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antidepressant, anxiolytic, and antimicrobial effects. It is non-psychoactive.
Depending on the spectrum, a CBD product may contain the following; cannabinoids, terpenes, essential oils, carrier oils, and other ingredients.
The cannabinoids commonly found in CBD products include but are usually not limited to Cannabidiol (CBD), Cannabigerol (CBG), Cannabinol (CBN), and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). While THC may be highly psychoactive and may affect brain function, CBD is non-psychoactive and offers a vast array of benefits without making you high.
The terpenes are flavoring agents found in plants and insects. The cannabis plant contains over 100 different terpenes, which can produce peculiar odor used in identifying cannabis strains. They also contribute to the activities of the cannabinoids by serving to enhance pain relief and the entourage effect. You can find a piece of information with the exact ingredients and 3-rd party certificate of analysis (COAs) on each product page
This is the combination of different plant-based chemicals found in the cannabis plant. it is often classified as
1. Full-spectrum CBD: these are products containing all the naturally occurring plant-based chemicals in the cannabis plant including, cannabinoids, terpenes, and essential oils. Full-spectrum CBD products may contain certain concentrations of THC (usually not more than 0.2% – 0.3%).
2. Broad-spectrum CBD: these are products containing all the naturally occurring plant-based chemicals in the cannabis plant except THC.
3. Pure isolate: This category of compounds contains a high pure concentration of CBD (usually between 98-99%).
Once CBD is present in the bloodstream, it interacts with the CB2 receptors to bring about regulation in the activities of the endocannabinoid system. It is important to note that the mechanism behind this reaction is not yet fully understood.
This is a system in the body consisting of cannabinoids and their receptors. It is responsible for controlling cognitive activities like appetite, hormonal balance, and pain. The ECS has two important receptors (CB1 and CB2) that interact with CBD and other members of the cannabis plant to produce one effect or the other.
CBD and THC are both excellent cannabinoids with therapeutic potentials. They can interact with the cannabinoid receptor to trigger the release of feel-good hormones while also controlling cognitive activities. THC acts on the CB1 receptors, while the CBD predominantly acts on the CB2 receptors. THC is psychoactive and can tamper with brain activities while CBD is non-psychoactive and does not in any effect the activity of the brain. CBD is highly inhibitory in action.
No. There is no intoxicating effect from taking CBD extract.
Hemp and marijuana are different varieties of the cannabis plant. They differ in their growth pattern, cannabinoid profile, use, and legality. In light of the above criteria, Hemp is often referred to as industrial Hemp, all thanks to its ability to provide raw materials for the building materials, clothing, composite materials, cordage, cosmetic, food industries, paper, plastic, and textile industry. It has a low THC concentration and does not produce flowers hence the name, male plant. Marijuana, on the other hand, contains a relatively high THC content is often used as a drug.
The ideal serving size or dosage for CBD depends on several factors, such as the weight of the individual, the level of disease, and the product. Starting dose is usually 5 to 20 mg per day, or 1-6 mg of CBD for every 10 pounds (appx. 5 kilograms) of your body weight. Check out our dosing guide and calculator to define your ideal starting dose.
CBD is completely non-toxic. However, we advise not to take more than 70 mg per day.
Taking CBD with other drugs may lead to a counter-reaction. CBD is highly inhibitory in nature. It can limit the interact with Cytochrome P450 to inhibit drug metabolism. This can lead to longer effects and overdose. Please read carefully this article and always discuss the use of CBD products with a doctor/physician prior to consuming.
CoA or certificate of analysis is a document accompanying each batch of CBD products. It gives a general idea of the different concentrations of cannabinoids, terpenes, and other ingredients. Certificate of analysis also provides information on the microbiological test, heavy metal test, and the CBD-to-THC ratio of the compound.
At the time of writing this information, there is no known side effect attached to using CBD while pregnant. We, however, DO NOT suggest to consume it while you are pregnant or nursing.
